SARANAC LAKE
Florence T. Farrell, 78, of Old Ray Brook Road, died Friday Jan. 7, 2000 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born Nov. 5, 1921 in Troy, she was the, daughter of Salvatore and Carmen (Zirpolo) Turino.
Mrs. Farrell attended, school in Troy, and came to Ray Brook in 1948. In 1953, she started working at the Ray Brook State Hospital in the X-ray department. In 1956, she took administrative leave to attend the Saranac Lake Guild X-ray School, where she graduated as a licensed X-ray Technologist. She resumed working at the Ray Brook Hospital until 1956, and was later employed at the Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. In the late 1950s she returned to the Saranac Lake area and worked in J. J. Newberry until 1969 and was later re-employed at the Ray Brook Hospital in the Nursing Department, where she worked until her retirement when the hospital closed m 1971. Mrs. Farrell was a member of the Civil Service Employees Association and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid.
Survivors include her husband Robert, whom she married in 1968, a daughter, Patricia Mellow of Plattsburgh, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mary Howe of Cohoes, Della Perfetti of Cropsville, Christine Palladino and Theresa Spencer, both of Lathams, four brothers, Larry Turino of Schenectady, and Pat Turino, John Turino and Steven Turino of southern California.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, in Saranac Lake. A Bible Vigil service will be take place Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a m on Monday at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Following cremation, interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carmelite Nuns in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
