Sergeant George Greenough was the son of Charles J. Greenough and Ida Belle Isham of Saranac Lake; he was an Observer in the Intelligence Department of the American Expeditionary Force. He was one of five in his Regiment appointed to receive a three month course in an English University. His name is listed on the World War I Veterans memorial in Saranac Lake.
George Greenough, far left He became the Commander of the Columbia University Post of the American Legion. Every Constitution Day celebration in New York City, he would place a wreath on the grave of Alexander Hamilton in the Trinity Church graveyard.
He finished his schooling and passed the Bar. He had an office in the Empire State Building in New York City.
