James Dyer, a long-time and respected resident of Keeseville, died early Monday afternoon at Albany Veterans Hospital from the effects of a cancer. He had been a patient there about three weeks and had undergone two operations, the last an emergency performed Friday of last week.

He was born in Vermontville May 3, 1890, the son of James and Hattie (Gowette) Dyer and moved to Keesville with his parents when seven years old where he has since lived.

Mr. Dyer was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Tero, daughter of Edward and Permelia (LaMountain) Tero of Keesville January 10, 1912, who survives as do three sons, Leo, Francis and Raymond Dyer of Keesville and one daughter, Mrs. William McCormick of Harkness. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Mr. Dyer was a veteran of World War I, receiving a medical discharge following the close of that war. He had served in the United States Army an additional three years, from 1909 to 1911.

A glazier and painter by trade he had been employed, up to his last illness, at Prescott Brothers , Inc.

He was a man of many friendships, a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of Keesville Post, American Legion.

Funeral services were held at nine o'clock Thursday morning at St. John the Baptist Church, the Rev. Paul Beyette officiating there and at the grave in St. John's cemetery, where fiull military rights were accorded by Keesville Post, American Legion.
