Chiefly known for: Morris was also known as Maurice. His wife Nina kept a diary in 1930 that is part of the collection at Historic Saranac Lake [2023.112.1]; she referred to him as Maurice.

M. A. LABOUNTY DIED AT HOME THIS MORNING
Morris A. LaBounty of 93 Forest Hill avenue died at his home this morning of a heart condition which had caused his health to fail for a number of years.
Mr. LaBounty was born July 12, 1874 at Paul Smiths the son of Theodore L. and Emma Otis LaBounty. He was married to the former Miss Nina C. Gleason and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 8 last year.
For many years the couple operated a farm near Dickinson Center. About 20 years ago they moved to this village where Mr. LaBounty found employment as a painter with Wood Brothers.
Mr. LaBounty was stricken with heart trouble a number of years ago and poor health confined him to his home. Approximately five years ago he began a rabbit raising industry. The white angora rabbits which he raised were sheared regularly and the fur sold to companies which used it as insulation for Eskimo jackets, down quilts and other warmth-giving objects.
Besides his wife, Mr. LaBounty is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hubert L. Donaldson and Mrs. Ray S. Tyler of this village; a son, Alton W. of Massena; a brother, Ernest of St. Regis Falls; a sister, Mrs. Olive Engstrom of Roscoe, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Violet J. Milne of St. Louis, Mo., and two grandchildren.
